If one of the 231 calls the Remsen Volunteer Fire Department responded to last year was at your home, your business, for you or a family member or friend, you surely realize the important role they play in helping our community on a daily basis. These men and women leave their homes and families and sometimes their jobs to respond to calls from you, your neighbor, your friend. And they do it all, without pay. Ask any fireman why they do what they do and they will tell you it is to be of help to people in need. Take a moment to appreciate your local fire department, you never know when you'll need to call on them for help.
